During the beginning of the nationwide shut down of the United States in 2020, the Carteret Public Library utilized its vacant building as a prime opportunity to add new features for its reopening. One project idea that was approved was a mural for the Children's Learning Center, a department of the library utilized for studying, reading, and other activities for children. Inspiration for the mural design came from nature and Spring season. With bright colors and large green leaves with an abundance of insects, the mural signified growth over time where small creatures like caterpillars and plants can become big and strong in a world just as big. The intent of the mural was to create a space for creativity, imagination, and overall brightness and color to a place for children.
